VANCOUVER -- Colin Powell, the former Republican secretary of state, says he is not ruling out a vote for Barack Obama, the presumed Democratic nominee for president.
While Mr. Powell served in the administrations of two Republican presidents, he suggested yesterday his support for presumed Republican nominee John McCain is not a forgone conclusion.
He noted that although both he and Mr. Obama are black, he would not cast a vote for the Illinois senator on the basis of race. "I will vote for the individual I think that brings the best set of tools to the problems of 21st-century America and the 21st-century world regardless of party, regardless of anything else other than the most qualified candidate," Mr. Powell said at a news conference before delivering a speech to about 800 people attending a leadership forum at the Vancouver Convention Centre.
"Both of them certainly have the qualifications to be the president of the United States, but both of them cannot be," he said.

Mr. Powell has been supportive of Mr. Obama's successes, but was commenting after the senator recently clinched the Democratic nomination.
A 35-year veteran of the U.S. Army, Mr. Powell also noted he would not necessarily support Mr. McCain because of his extensive military service.
Asked whether he thought it was a difficult choice, he said: "I think so. Yes."

Kennedy was rushed to the hospital after suffering two seizures

Sen. Edward M. Kennedy, scion of one of America’s most enduring political dynasties, was rushed to the hospital Saturday after suffering what his staff called a "seizure."
The 76-year-old senator was airlifted to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston after falling ill at his home on Cape Cod.
And "after discussion with his doctors in Boston,” spokeswoman Melissa Wagoner said, “Senator Kennedy was sent to Massachusetts General Hospital for further examination. He is currently under evaluation, and information will be released as it becomes available."
Several hours later, his staff released a more optimistic assessment after CNN reported that the senator had telephoned family from the hospital.

"It appears that Senator Kennedy experienced a seizure this morning. He is undergoing a battery of tests at Massachusetts General Hospital to determine the cause of the seizure,’’ Wagoner said. “Senator Kennedy is resting comfortably, and it is unlikely we will know anything more for the next 48 hours."
Kennedy's wife, Victoria, was reported at his side in the hospital. Massachusetts’ other senator, John F. Kerry, the unsuccessful Democratic presidential nominee in 2004, also visited the hospital briefly, but did not stop to talk to reporters. News that Kennedy had been stricken dominated the cable networks throughout the day, with commentators reviewing his enduring public career. Ted Sorenson and other former aides to Kennedy’s brother, the late President John F. Kennedy, offered overviews of Kennedy family history, and friends in the political world told stories from throughout his political career, spanning nearly five decades. In the Senate since 1962, Kennedy has become one of the leading surrogates for Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) in his bid for the Democratic presidential nomination. A liberal lion of the Senate, Kennedy is chairman of the Senate Education and Labor Committee and one of the most skilled legislators in the chamber. He has had health problems, and his current condition was serious enough for him to be airlifted to Boston. Senate sources, though, were being very careful about discussing the senator’s condition, given the potential seriousness of the "stroke-like symptoms" that were first reported.

Last October, at Massachusetts General, Kennedy had surgery to relieve major blockage in one of his carotid arteries – an often-used procedure to prevent a stroke. He recovered quickly and has been very active, back in the Senate and on the campaign trail for Obama in his tight race against Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.)

Kennedy is America's last living link to the romanticized "Camelot" era of John F. Kennedy and Robert F. Kennedy of the 1960s. The Cape Cod Times reported that local rescue crews responded to an emergency call from the Kennedy compound at 8:30 this morning. The newspaper has also posted a picture of Kennedy being carried to a helicopter on Cape Cod. The Kennedys were in Hyannisport, Mass., this weekend to host the annual “Best Buddies Challenge” event — a charity for people with disabilities. “We are putting in a call to Vicki Kennedy,” Obama told reporters. “And we are going to try to find out as quickly as possible what is going on. Obviously my thoughts and prayers are with Teddy. He is one of my favorite people. Hopefully he is going to be OK.” Carrie Budoff Brown contributed to this story.

Obama Memo: 17 Pledged Delegates

Away From Winning Primaries


In a sign that they are likely to declare victory in the presidential primary very soon, the Obama campaign is now boasting in a memo to reporters that they are on the cusp of winning the pledged-delegate majority, thanks to the endorsement from John Edwards and a group of his delegates.
By the Obama campaign's math, they are only 17 elected delegates away from the pledged-del majority, a number that they are guaranteed to pull off next week in Oregon and Kentucky. Expect them to court super-delegates to break their way en masse after that happens, on the basis that Obama has the popular mandate to be the nominee.

John Edwards Endorses Obama !

ABC News confirms that John Edwards will endorse Barack Obama at an event tonight in Michigan:
Former Sen. John Edwards is endorsing Sen. Barack Obama's presidential candidate Wednesday evening, in a dramatic attempt by the Obama campaign to answer concerns regarding Obama's appeal to working-class voters, several senior Democratic sources tell ABC News.
Edwards, who ran for president on a platform of eradicating poverty, plans to appear alongside Obama in Grand Rapids, Mich., Wednesday evening. The event comes one day after Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton defeated Obama by 41 points in the West Virginia primary, and Edwards' endorsement will give Obama a key establishment stamp of approval as he attempts to close out the nominating process. ...
A source close to the Clinton campaign said the Edwards camp gave the Clinton folks a head's up.
"Clearly it's upsetting" the source tells ABC. "He brings the workers" to Obama.
Time's Mark Halperin says a source reports that Edwards was on Obama's campaign plane today.
NBC News notes the impact this could have on the delegate count:
Edwards has 18 pledged delegates.
Even if all of those people voted for Obama, and there's no guarantee they would, it wouldn't quite give Obama a majority in pledged delegates, but it would get him close. Edwards' people are really loyal and might not vote for Obama or Hillary or whoever -- even if Edwards tells them to.
Original Post: The Obama campaign has announced a "major national endorsement" for a rally tonight at 7pm in Michigan, and the rumor mill is swirling that it is none other than Sen. John Edwards. Time's Mark Halperin is teasing as much at his Web site, with a photo of Edwards and the text, "Ready to choose? Ready to hope?"
Edwards has certainly dropped some hints in recent days. He's chided Hillary Clinton over her comments about race, said he can't figure out how Clinton could ever win the nomination, and even said he planned to endorse the person he voted for in North Carolina's primary, using (it seems) the word "him." Virginia win has been to declare how Obama does not have the white vote....which is absolutely ignorant considering in the very next sentence, they state that Obama is expected to win Oregon....an all white state ! 'DREAM TICKET' Would Be

NightMare For Obama

Now that it is obvious that Hillary has absolutely no chance of winning the nomination her team has obviously instructed certain folks in the media (even some black ones) to push the so-called 'Dream Ticket' of Obama/Hillary. First of all....who's dream is this anyway. I have never heard Obama state that this would be such a dream ticket....why?....Because it would be an absolute nightmare for Obama, Michelle and the entire Obama Presidency. First of all, Hillary despises Obama....and can't stand the fact that someone has blocked her from obtaining the power the she felt destined to obtain. Secondly, Obama and Hillary are total opposites when it comes to character and style. Hillary lies so often that she can't keep track (sniper fire in Bosnia for example) and is so divisive that not only do Republicans have a true hatred for her....(which the Republican controlled media knows...and they know that this Dream Ticket would invigorate Republican voters to come out in mass numbers to defeat the Dream...I can just hear old Flush Limbaugh now) but the longer she stays in the race.....the longer her hate list of even Democrats grows. She is a coniving, slick, will do anything, could care less about truth, or getting caught, deceit filled, power-hungry,semi-crazy, plain old bug-eyed weird woman....who's obsessed with the desire to rule. Obama is the exact opposite....with a deep desire to serve. The two are like water and vinegar....they'll NEVER mix.

Can you picture Obama, Michelle and the girls living in the White House, and at 3 in the morning, getting constant calls from W.H. security because Wild Bill is trying to sneak somebody into the Oval Office? Or do you think Hillary would really try to help Obama's Presidency go smoothly, when the whole time she's hoping he fails so she can take the reigns in 2012. My biggest fear would be that she wouldn't wait until 2012. From the look in her eyes, she seems like the type that Obama would have to have extra security.....just to watch her ! Not to mention the daily need for a food taster....to make sure she hasn't poisoned him to fill his slot.

The only people desiring this so-called 'Dream Ticket' are the Hillary supporters. But I guarantee...the only dream that would come out of this would be called Nightmare for The Obama's !

CNN IS THE NEW FOX NEWS !!

Pay Attention People: CNN IS THE NEW FOX NEWS !!!! I have been a news/political junkie ever since I started to come to the realization the we were being led like lost sheep regarding our invasion of Iraq. Daily I would flip through the cable news shows trying to weed out a bit of truth (usually found only on CSPAN, DemocracyNow, and a few honest 'experts'). I could spot it long ago, and Huffington Post recently exposed how the military 'experts' were being paid by the Pentagon (aka Bush regime) to lie and mislead the American people regarding Iraq. This means that all of the cable networks have been a part of this manipulation. NOW I'M NOTICING A NEW TREND AT CNN !!!! For the past few months, CNN has quietly made changes that are actually a bit scary. First, they brought Keran Gentry from Fox. Then their overall tone started sounding GOPish. Then they took Solidad and Miles off and replaced them with John Roberts and Campbell Brown (who's husband works at Fox). Then they added Tony Snow (formerly of Fox and Bush's Press spokesperson)...now they've announced the addition of another former Bush spokesperson Francis Townsend, scheduled to appear regularly beginning next week. To top things off, they've added ANN COULTER as a regular pundit. That was the proof right there. CNN IS THE NEW FOX !!!! Also, if you flip from CNN to FOX during Live broadcasts you'll see that they are using the same camera source, ie....WORKING TOGETHER !! These changes can mean only 1 of 2 things. Either they expect Obama to get the nomination and want to join Fox (and much of MSNBC) in gang attacking him in hopes of Hillary winning the nomination....then, McCain defeating Hillary...and the Republicans controlling the White House......OR they have been notified and instructed by the regime that something big (bomb Iran?) is ahead....Either way the manipulative media is getting set for massive lying. Time to pay attention America....and spread the word....They fooled us once (Iraq War)....but as they say....NEVER AGAIN !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hillary started out with 82% of the black support. But as Blacks learned more about her (Goldwater Girl...Against Civil Rights Act '64....It was LBJ...Not MLK....etc) combined with Bill's (...fairy tale....Jessie Won S.C. too...etc.)...blacks were shocked beyond repair. (remember....we luved Bill so much we called him 'The First Black President')....but never again....WHERE'S THAT STORY. And if the DNC thinks.....'ohhhhhh....the blacks will be angry at first...but they'll come around'.....then they don't know the severity of what the Clinton's have done....This has nothing to do with Obama !!!! KOGELO, Kenya »Barack Obama pushed through surging crowds and hurtled down roads lined with screaming fans yesterday before settling into the calm of a quiet meal with his grandmother in the Kenyan hamlet where his father grew up and is buried.

The U.S. senator from Illinois stopped at his father's grave for a few moments before ending his visit to the compound, a collection of small buildings, towering mango trees and assorted dogs and chickens.

"Anytime a child comes back to a parent's grave, it makes you reflect on your mortality and the next generation," Obama said, adding that he was especially happy to be able to bring his two daughters along.

Obama also spent much of the day studying the toll AIDS is taking on African families. He and his wife took HIV tests as thousands of people watched and he visited a project that helps grandmothers find the money to care for children orphaned by AIDS.

Obama's 85-year-old grandmother, Sarah, met him at the foot of the small hill where her house sits and hugged him. Then they and Obama's family walked to the house amid a crush of relatives, friends and reporters. Someone carried a huge American flag.
The family shared a meal of chicken, porridge, cabbage and more. His grandmother had told reporters that she would make eggs, which she said was the appropriate thing for a grandmother to serve a visiting grandson.
"She said she was only going to fix eggs, but I think somebody convinced her to go overboard," Obama said.

The 1979 Punahou Schools graduate began his day with an appearance at a hospital in Kisumu, Kenya's third-largest city. Thousands of people waited for him, even climbing trees for better views, as he visited a mobile HIV-testing center. When Obama appeared, the crowd surged forward and had to be held back by police.

Obama and his wife, Michelle, entered the mobile lab and underwent HIV tests in an effort to reduce the public stigma associated with testing in Kenya. He said the results were good news but the most important thing was the control that comes with knowing their HIV status.
"If a U.S. senator can get tested and his wife can get tested, then everybody in this crowd can get tested. Everybody in this city can get tested," Obama said.

As he left, people surrounded his car and the others with him, running alongside.

People lined up along city streets and rural highways and dirt roads to cheer Obama as his caravan passed by. The students of Jubilee High School rushed to the road in their uniforms of white shirts and dark pants. Old men waved. Barefoot children stared.

With his Kenyan heritage, Obama is getting a warm reception everywhere, but the reaction has been even stronger in this part of the country -- home to the Luo tribe, which includes Obama's family.

Kenyans have claimed Obama as one of their own, even though he was mostly raised in Hawaii and did not know his Kenyan father well. This is his third visit to Kenya, but his first since being elected the United States' only black senator in 2004.

"We love him so much. He has the same blood as our origins," said Austin Ochieng as he waited in a tree for the chance to see Obama. "We are expecting a lot of development from him. We also expect employment. We need him to talk to our government."

Obama's father, also named Barack, grew up herding goats and going to tin-roof schools, but he won a college scholarship in Hawaii. There, he married Obama's mother. The two soon separated, however, and Obama's father eventually returned to Kenya and worked as a government economist.

His father died in a car crash in 1982.

posting of Robert Novak's Revealing Hillary Civil Rights Article !

I occassionally do a search of our site, Blacks 4 Barack to see what sites or blogs may have picked up on some of the things we're discussing and to my surprise....make that shock....I saw that there were national articles about us on the major political sites.....Politico and Daily Kos, both of which I have always enjoyed. I immediately clicked to see what it was about....and I could not believe my eyes. They both wrote national articles about my posting of Washington columnist Robert Novaks May 2007 article on my personal Barack Obama blog. Novak's article entitled Hillary, King, Goldwater discusses Hillary Clinton having been a 'Goldwater Girl' (Senator Barry Goldwater was against Civil Rights Act of 1964) during the same period she claims to have been 'inspired' after hearing a speech by Dr. Martin Luther King, a story she commonly tells on the campaign trail. Novak's article questions how Hillary could have had two different mindsets at the same time.

Politico and DailyKos' whole point in their articles was to somehow blame Senator Obama for what was posted on the Blacks4Barack blog. To top things off, they went as far as to have the headline in big bold print 'Should Obama Be Accountable....'. ACCOUNTABLE ? This is America Daily Kos and Politico. I, Greg Jones can say whatever I want on my blog just as you can on yours and I will continue to do so. And to try to use an article by Robert Novak that I post on my blog in an attempt to discredit or scar Senator Obama is absolutely pathetic !!! Also, to falsely claim that the posting of Novak's article is the Obama Campaign way to try to smear Hillary is preposterous.

First of all, the article was written by Robert Novak....not Barack Obama. Secondly, it was posted on my community blog by me, Greg Jones, a Barack Obama supporter. Finally, everything in the Robert Novak article is true....Hillary Clinton was a 'Goldwater Girl'! This is a fact that even she wrote about in her own memoirs saying that she 'was a Goldwater Girl all the way down to my cowboy boots'. Truth is not a smear. Truth is truth. So if you Politico and DailyKos are upset that the truth about Hillary is coming out then say that.....but don't falsely insinuate that it is a smear tactic by the Obama campaign.

The fact that you are both this desirous to create negativity for the Obama Campaign is not only very revealing but extremely sad. Who are YOU working for ? I know that Senator Obama has been thoroughly researched all the way back to kindergarten, but now you're trolling through blogs of his supporters in hopes of finding ANYTHING you can to tarnish him with. And to blame Senator Obama for an article written by Novak in 2007 is really going to far. While you're trolling why don't you interview Ms. Clinton and ask her how she could have been be pro civil rights and pro Goldwater at the same time. While you're at it, ask her and Bill why Ms. Mirian Wright Edelman, (founder of the Children's Defense Fund, another story often shared by Clinton) is extremely upset with the Clintons to this day.( Google: Mirian Edelman Amy Goodman)

While I have your attention allow me to explain why it is upsetting to some of us, as blacks, to hear that Ms. Clinton was a staunch supporter of Senator Barry Goldwater who is known to have been a segregationist and adamently opposed the Civil Rights Act of 1964 while running for President against LBJ. Many of us are hurt to find this out because we had admired and even somewhat trusted the Clintons. For her 'Goldwater Days' to be exposed to us is quite revealing. Imagine, if someone claimed to honor a great Jewish person, then found out that the same person honored a Nazi at the same time. That would be very offensive to many in the Jewish community. It's the same thing here to many of us. We are pleased that Ms. Clinton has adjusted her civil rights stance since then, but we do have the right to question the contradictory facts about her past.

Since Senator Obama is totally dedicated to Unity, he would never bring up any issue related to the Clinton's past. I bring it up, on my own, not so much for Senator Obama.....but more so to let my fellow blacks (and whites) know the truth about the people we had brought into our hearts to the degree of even calling Bill 'The First Black President'.

Even though I am not a huge fan, I do thank Robert Novak for his very enlightening article. I'm sure you well informed political experts had seen it before, since it's been all over the internet for the last year. It's been on MSNBC's site.....Tucker Carlson discussed the article, in The Washington Post, Real Clear Politics, Townhall, etc (where's your aticle about them 'smearing' Hillary?) and all of a sudden you people are so desperate to scar Obama that you want to blame him for Robert Novak's article ! Again, that's pretty sad.....but I do thank you for the great exposure. Now I'm really ALL FIRED UP !!!!!

P.S. It's people like you who sit up nights trying to figure ways to divide people. That is why millions of us are for Barack Obama......his honesty, integrity, leadership and dedication to Unity! Not to mention....truth !
